India has the largest population of lions in the world. It has a whopping 2,400 lions at present.


Lioness is the active member of the family or the lion pride.

Lionesses are much faster, which makes them a better hunter than lions. Lion runs 35 mph however Lioness can reach up to a speed of 45 mph. This is because of the body shape and structure.


Lionesses never grows a mane.

Lion has a big mane, which doesn’t allow itself from running fast as it may suffer from heat issues and die a heat death because of the body, especially the head cannot get rid of the excess heat produced during the heavy activity.


Lioness is the smaller ones.

They range from 140 to 175 centimetres in length and body weight of 190 kilograms. The male is 6–7 ft (1.8–2.1 m) long, and weighs 370–500 lbs (170–230 kg).


Lioness is slender and flexible.

The Lioness is sleek and has a flexible body, this makes the Lioness run faster without any problem but the Lion is large and heavy.


Lioness is the primary hunter in any pride.

Lioness kills the prey and brings it to the pride and serves dominant males to eat first.


Sexually matured lioness usually continues with the pride while the male ones left.

Females form the stable social unit in a pride and do not tolerate outside females.  Membership changes only with the births and deaths of lionesses, although some females leave and become nomadic. The average pride consists of around 15 lions, including several adult females and up to four males and their cubs of both sexes.


Lioness in pride is related via bloodlines.They does not combat often.
